The Gates Scholarship--The Gates Scholarship is a highly selective, last-dollar scholarship for outstanding minority, high school seniors from low-income households. A student must be a high school senior, from at least one of the following ethnicities: African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian/Pacific Islander American, and/or Hispanic American, pell-eligible (based on FAFSA), a US citizen, national, or permanent resident, have at least a 3.3 GPA and plan to enroll full-time in a four-year degree program at a US college or university. **2023 State Masonic Public School Essay Contest-Any junior or seniors attending a Kansas public high school is eligible to apply. The essay will be judged on originality, research, and development of the topic. First place winners will receive a $4,000 scholarship prize. For rules, essay topic, and application, please visit https://kansasmasonic.foundation/program/essay-contest/. The deadline to submit your essay to Mrs. Sheldon is Monday, October 30, 2023.
**Rudd Scholarship-The Rudd Foundation is offering Renewable Full-Ride Scholarships! Students must have a 3.0 GPA, demonstrate financial need (be Pell Eligible according to FAFSA), plan to enroll full-time in the fall, be admitted to Wichita State, Fort Hays State, K-State, or Emporia State University, be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident, and must have an ACT score. The Rudd scholarship will cover any remaining cost of attendance after all other aids, grants, and scholarship are applied. Kansas Promise Scholarship Act—is open to Kansas Residents who will be entering post-secondary school within 12 months of graduation. Students must complete the FAFSA, fill out the application, and enroll and complete within 30 months of first entering college. Upon completion of the program, students must reside and work in Kansas for a minimum of two consecutive years or enroll in a Kansas institution of higher education and then reside and work for a minimum of two consecutive years. Students must choose a program from one of the four fields of study: Information technology and security; mental and physical healthcare; advanced manufacturing and building trades; early childhood education and development; or one additional program designated by the institution.
