Southwestern Heights hosted the Hi-Plains League Scholars Bowl tournament on Wednesday, January 25, 2023. League schools are Lakin, Wichita County, Stanton County, Elkhart, Sublette, Syracuse, and Southwestern Heights. Teams competed in a 7-round, round-robin style tournament. Elkhart placed third with a 3-3 record, Sublette was second with a 4-2 record, and Southwestern Heights placed first with a 6-0 record. Team members are Breckin Buttry, Kaleb Scripsick, Lucy Vajnar, Jaydon Vermillion, and Adan Puentes.

Results of Sublette Tournament
On Saturday, January 14th, the Varsity team competed at Sublette. The team finished with a 6-2 record and placed 3rd. Team members were Jaydon Vermillion, Lucy Vajnar, Kaleb Scripsick, Breckin Buttry, and Adan Puentes. The Varsity team will compete Monday, January 16th at Scott City. Southwestern Heights will also host the High-Plains League Scholars Bowl tournament on Wednesday, January 25th. The Varsity will travel to Colby on Thursday, February 2nd for Regionals.

On Saturday, January 14th, JV team competed at Sublette. The JV team of Kooper Scripsick, Elijah Kisner, and Angel Martinez finished the day with a 3-3 record and placed 4th. The JV team will compete at Liberal on Thursday, January 19th. Southwestern Heights will also host the High-Plains League Scholars Bowl tournament on Wednesday, January 25th. Results of SWH Tournament
Southwestern Heights hosted their home Scholars Bowl tournament yesterday. The Varsity team finished second in their pool with a record of 5 wins and 2 losses. They competed for finals and came in second. Team members were Jaydon Vermillion, Adan Puentes, Lucy Vajnar, Breckin Buttry, and Kaleb Scripsick. Congratulations teams!!!

The JV team finished pool play with a record of 3 wins and 4 losses. Team members were Elijah Kisner, Jonathan Mercado, Levi Eaton, Angel Martinez, and Kooper Scripsick.
