STUDENTS MUST UPLOAD A PHOTO WITH THEIR ACT REGISTRATION. I CAN HELP WITH THIS IF YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO DO IT AT HOME.
For more information about the ACT and some of the changes to the format, please visit https://www.act.org/content/act/en/products-and-services/the-act.html for more information and for test prep offered to students.
The ACT is an important entrance exam for students who are planning to attend a post-secondary school (either 2-year or 4-year). Most community colleges accept all students, but base some of their scholarship money on ACT test scores. Juniors will take the District ACT in February 2026 during the school day, if they return a signed permission form from a parent. Any senior who has not taken the ACT or would like to retake their ACT, needs to do so as soon as they possibly can so that they can have a score for college applications. Seniors planning to take College Comp I and College Comp II their senior year can also get in based on their GPA or they will need to have taken the ACT and gotten at least an 18 on the English section. Otherwise, they will also have to try to take the ACCUPLACER test.
The national ACT dates listed above will allow students to choose to take the ACT paper/pencil or on computer. They can now also choose to take the Science section or to NOT take the science section. It is now an optional part of the test.
The ACT is given nationally on specific dates (see table above). Please make sure you are aware of the deadlines and get register online at www.actstudent.org or you can come in and I will help you register. There are two test options, the ACT only or the ACT Plus Writing. The writing section is in addition the the ACT test and will help students if they are planning to apply at a 4-year university or an out-of-state college. If you are not sure if the college you are interested in requires the writing section, check the college website, or ask me and I can look it up for you. The fee for the ACT only is $68.00 this year. If students participate in the free or reduced lunch program, they can use a fee waiver up to 2 times to pay for the ACT test (see Mrs. Sheldon for a fee waiver). Otherwise, students will have to pay at the time of registration. If you need help registering, please call me for assistance.
