Below are the graduation requirements for the class of 2025, 2026, & 2027. Southwestern Heights High School requires 24 credits to graduate. Of those credits, 15 are required:
4 units of English
3 units of Math
3 units of Science (Physical Science, Biology, 3rd Science)
1/2 unit of Health (Freshman Year)
1/2 unit of Physical Education or Strength & Conditioning
1 unit of American Government/International Relations (Senior Year)
1 unit of American History (Junior Year)
1 unit of World Studies (Sophomore Year)
1 unit of Fine Arts (Band, Choir, or Art)
9 Electives
For the class of 2028 and beyond, below are the new graduation requirements. There are 17 required courses:
4 units of English
3 units of Math
3 units of Science (Physical Science, Biology, 3rd Science)
1 unit of STEM (Computer Science, Advanced Math, Advanced Science, Advanced Agriculture, etc)
1 unit of American Government/International Relations (Senior Year)
1 unit of American History (Junior Year)
1 unit of World Studies (Sophomore Year)
1 unit of Fine Arts (Band, Choir, or Art)
1/2 unit of Health (Freshman Year)
1/2 unit of Physical Education or Strength & Conditioning
1/2 unit of Speech
1/2 unit of Financial Literacy
7 units of Electives
Students will also have to accomplish two or more Post-Secondary Assets from the list below:
- Youth Apprenticeships
- 40 or more Community Service hours
- Client-centered Projects
- Workplace learning experience directly related to a student IPS
- Industry-recognized certifications
- Seal of Biliteracy
- ACT Composite (21+)
- Workkeys Level (Silver or higher)
- 9+ College hours
- State Assessment scores of 3 or 4 in Math, ELA, Science (Demonstrating College Readiness)
- ASVAB per requirements of military branch selection
- SAT score (1200 or higher)
- Completing Board of Regents Curriculum
- International Baccalaureate Exam (4+)
- Advanced Placement Exam (3+)
- CTE Scholar
- Eagle Scout or Gold Scout
- 4-H Kansas Key Award
- Two or more high school athletics/activities
- JROTC
- 90% attendance in high school
- Senior Exit Interview/Senior Projects
- CTSO Officers
