WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 23-27
ALL STUDENTS: Kansas State University will be hosting Discover K-State Days this fall on Friday, September 20, Monday, October 7, Monday, October 28, and Friday, November 1 for any student interested in learning more about what K-State has to offer. If interested, students need to go to https://k-state.edu/discover-day to register.
ALL STUDENTS: K-State Engineering will be in Garden City at the Clarion Inn on Thursday, October 3rd from 6:30-8:00 pm. This is an opportunity to get more information about the Engineering programs at K-State. They will cover types of engineering, engineering careers, transition information, and other opportunities for students and their parents. If interested in attending, you need to register online at engg.k-state.edu/engineering-night.
All FEMALE STUDENTS: Kansas State University Polytechnic Campus (Salina) will be hosing their annual Girls in Aviation Day on Saturday, October 5, 2019. Attendees will have to opportunity to talk to women in various fields of aviation and aerospace, including pilots, engineers, air traffic controllers, airport managers, and more. There will be hands-on activities, such as a flight simulator and many more. If interested, please see Mrs. Sheldon ASAP as space is limited.
SENIORS: KU Area Health Education Center is sponsoring "Journeys and Destinations; Exploring Careers in Health and Science". This is an opportunity for students to spend the day learning more about different careers in the health and science field (especially the medical field). The event will be hosted at St. Catherine's Hospital in Garden City on Thursday, October 24. The enrollment is limited and I am only able to take the first 7 students who sign up and pay me $10 to attend. Please only sign up if you are VERY interested in pursuing a career in the medical field! I will have a permission form for you and your parents to sign and return. You must sign up by October 14, 2019.
JUNIORS & SENIORS: Hutchinson Community College will be hosting their annual Fire Science Student Field Day on Wednesday, October 16 from 9 am to 2 pm. Any junior and senior and their parents are encouraged to attend. Attendees will see exciting firefighting techniques, meet student firefighters, and learn about different fire service careers. Registration is required and SPACE IS LIMITED, so if interested, go to www.hutchcc.edu/fieldday to sign up!
JUNIORS & SENIORS: Seward County Community College will be hosting their annual Career and Technical Education Day on Wednesday, October 16, 2019. Students interested in attending will learn more about opportunities for highly skilled employees in high-demand industries, including manufacturing, energy trades, transportation, and more. There will also be a job fair for students to see employees from around the area who are looking for technically educated students. If you are interested in attending, please see Mrs. Sheldon.
SOPHOMORES & JUNIORS: Southern Pioneer Electric is sponsoring the Cooperative Youth Leadership Camps is Steamboat Springs, CO and Washington, DC this summer. You should have received a brochure from your English teachers about these opportunities. SPE gets to choose 2 students from their service area to attend the CYLC in Colorado and 2 students to attend CYLC in DC.
