Senior Scholarships

This is a list of scholarships available for seniors to apply for.  Most of them are now web-based and can be accessed online.  This will be updated as frequently as possible when new opportunities become available.

 

 

BP Hugoton Field Scholarship Program—Residents of Seward County are encouraged to apply if they have a 3.5 GPA or above, a composite ACT score of 24, and have financial need.  Please see me for a copy of the application; deadline to apply is April 9, 2010.

 

Steve Harper Scholarship—The Kansas Wildscape Foundation is assisting the Steve Harper Scholarship Committee in administering this scholarship that is available to any high school senior planning to attend a Kansas college and major in either natural resources or photography curriculum.  See me for a copy of the application; deadline to apply is April 15, 2010.

 

Sobriety Rocks Scholarship Contest—Underage drinking is a serious problem and you can help in a creative way!  Express yourself in art, writing, music or PSA that encourages people under 21 to say “No”.  Top entries in each category will win $1,000 toward an accredited college or post-high school training program.  Deadline to submit entries is April 15, 2010.  See me for more details and rules, or visit www.sobrietyrocksks.net.

 

Beef Empire Days, Inc—Seniors in Southwest Kansas and the Oklahoma and Texas Panhandles are encouraged to apply if they are going to pursue a full-time education in a field related to agriculture.  Please see me for an application; deadline is April 16, 2010.

 

***Richard M. Michem Scholarship—This scholarship is made available to one student at each high school in the following counties:  Stevens, Seward, Grant, Stanton, and Morton.  Students are to apply for this scholarship through their high school counselor’s office.  Application consists of a letter describing financial need and potential for success.  Deadline to submit letters is April 22, 2010.

 

Northwest Cotton Growers Coop Gin—The Coop will be giving away two $500 scholarships this year.  All students are encouraged to apply, see me for a copy of the application.  They must provide an essay and a letter of recommendation from a teacher or administrator.  Deadline is April 30, 2010.

 

County Weed Directors Association of Kansas (CWDAK)—This scholarship is being offered to seniors with a 3.0 or higher GPA, planning to attend a college in Kansas, and  major in agriculture or plant science are encouraged to apply.  See me for an application; deadline is May 1, 2010.

 

Grasshopper Trust (Vera Waters Educational Trust—This scholarship is being offered to seniors in Meade County.  Please see me for an application and information sheet.  Deadline to apply is May 15, 2010.

 

The Frank A. Tupper Scholarship—is a $1,000 scholarship open to any legal resident of Kansas over 18 years old.  The scholarship shall be used for tuition and fees, books and classroom materials, and/or school room and board for an individual in an accredited, airport management based educational program or for American Association of Airport Execuitives (AAAE) sponsored AAE, CM, and ACE programs.  Associate level, undergraduate and graduate level programs are all eligible.  Deadline for application is May 21, 2010.  Complete information and additional forms are available on the KAA website www.kansasairports.org.
