WEEK OF APRIL 5-9
JUNIORS/SENIORS: Colby Community Collegeis hosting a Non-Traditional Occupations Open House Saturday, April 17, 2010 beginning at 9:00 am. Students interested in learning more information about Non-Traditional Occupations and majors offered at CCC, please see me for more information, or contact Chriss Ellison at 785-460-4692.
SENIORS: The Frank A. Tupper Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship open to any legal resident of Kansas over 18 years old. The scholarship shall be used for tuition and fees, books and classroom materials, and/or school room and board for an individual in an accredited, airport management based educational program or for American Association of Airport Execuitives (AAAE) sponsored AAE, CM, and ACE programs. Associate level, undergraduate and graduate level programs are all eligible. Deadline for application is May 21, 2010. Complete information and additional forms are available on the KAA website www.kansasairports.org.
JUNIORS: Butler Community College will be hosting their annual Grizzly Junior Days at their Andover and El Dorado Campuses, April 29 and April 30. If interested in attending, please see me for more information or register at www.butlercc.edu and click on Grizzly Junior Days.
SOPHOMORES: Kansas State University Alumni Association is hosting “For S0phomores Only” during Open House Weekend April 23-24, 2010. Students are encouraged to attend with their parents to learn about making the transition from high school to college life, take a campus tour, interact with current K-State students and discuss student life, and to experience K-State Open House. Parents will also get the opportunity to ask questions about the admission process, enrollment, financial aid, and scholarships. Please see me for a registration form, deadline to RSVP is April 14, 2010.
STUDENTS: Sobriety Rocks 2010 Scholarship Contest is now underway! Express yourself in art, writing, music or PSA that encourages people under 21 to say “NO”. You can enter for a chance to win a $1,000 scholarship to an accredited college of your choice. For more information and rules, please stop by my office and pick up information or visit www.sobrietyrocksks.net to see winners from last year. Deadline to submit an entry is April 15, 2010.
SENIORS: Beef Empire Days, Inc.is offering a scholarship opportunity to high school seniors in Southwest Kansas and the Oklahoma and Texas Panhandles. Students must be furthering their educations full-time in an agriculturally related field (including education, communications, production, research, engineering or any other field involved with the beef industry). Please see me for an application. Deadline to apply for this scholarship is April 16, 2010.
SENIORS: The Richard M. Michem Scholarship is being made available to one student at Southwestern Heights High School. To apply, please write a letter that addresses financial need and potential for success and turn it in to me by April 22, 2010.
SENIORS: Northwest Cotton Growersis going to give away two $500 scholarships this year. Students need to see me for an application, must write an essay and provide a letter of recommendation. Deadline to apply is April 30, 2010.
SENIORS: County Weed Directors Association of Kansas (CWDAK) is sponsoring two $250 scholarships for the Fall semester of 2010. Kansas high school seniors with a 3.0 GPA or higher, who plan to attend a Kansas college or university and major in agriculture or plant science are encouraged to apply. Please see me for a copy of the application. Deadline is May 1, 2010.
STUDENTS: Dodge City Community College is once again hosting their Leadership Institute to help students explore their future careers. This year, the Institute will take place June 5-12 at DCCC Campus. Only current Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors may apply. Please see the poster outside my office or come in and get a flyer for more information. Deadline to send in applications is May 1, 2010.
