Scholars Bowl Team Makes Impressive Run At Regionals
The Southwestern Heights Scholars Bowl team competed at Regionals in Hays on Thursday, February 1, 2018. The team went 5-3 in their pool and placed 3rd. The top 3 teams from each pool went on to compete in a round-robin for finals. After finishing finals with a 3-2 record, there was a five-way tie for first place between SWH, Cimarron, TMP, Scott Community, and Lyons. To break the tie, they looked at head-to-head match ups. There was still a five-way tie of 2-2 for each school. They next looked at points in those head-to-head match ups to decide who scored more points and lost by less. In the end, only 3 teams could move on to state. SWH wound up 4th overall, based on points. Scott Community placed first, TMP placed 2nd, and Cimarron placed 3rd. The team completed very well and it was a disappointing end to a great day of competition. But, they had a great year of competition and Mrs. Sheldon is very proud of all of them for their hard work. Team members include Brendan Smith (12), Grady Jacobs (12), Logan Cox (12), Jayde Reiss (12), Valick Sorter (10), and Christian Hernandez (12).
